Deborah C. Jackson, Chief Executive Officer

Deborah C. Jackson has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay since 2002. During this time, she has led the organization through tremendous growth including the doubling of its territory to serving over 190 cities and towns in Eastern Massachusetts. She has grown the chapter’s capacity to respond to disasters, strengthened other core services; enhanced the local Red Cross brand, launched innovative fund raising strategies to grow resources; and built a stronger, dedicated volunteer core including leadership board members.

Deborah’s career in urban policy and community services has spanned more than 25 years.During this time,she has held a number of executive positions in health and human services including Vice President of the Boston Foundation,Senior Vice President of Boston Children’s Hospital,and President and CEO of Goodwill Industries(Ma.)She began her career at Abt Associates,Inc.a public policy and consulting firm,where she held the position of Deputy Director of the Health Care and Income Security Group.She serves on a number of Boards and has held numerous appointed positions on task forces - serving the Mayor of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.She has been the recipient of numerous awards including; the Boston Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award for Non-Profit Leadership, the Women’s Business Hall of Fame Award and was recognized by Boston Magazine as one of the area’s 100 Most Influential Women.She is a frequent speaker,presenter and panelist.

 

Michael McCaffrey, Chief Financial Officer

Michael McCaffrey is the Chief Financial Officer for the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay and is responsible for overseeing the chapter’s finance, treasury, facilities and security functions. McCaffrey has a long affiliation with the American Red Cross beginning in 1995 serving as a board member for local Red Cross units and as treasurer and chairman of the finance committee for the Mass Bay Chapter.

Michael brings with him nearly twenty years of financial experience in banking where he most recently served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer with the Mercantile Capital Corporation. There he was a key member of the management team and oversaw the financial control, treasury, audit, and deposit and loan operations. His experience includes strategic planning, risk management, budgeting and asset/liability management. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Connecticut State University and is a graduate of the Massachusetts School for Financial Studies administered through Babson College.

 

 

Valerie Navy-Daniels, Chief of Development and External Relations

Valerie Navy-Daniels is the Chief of Development and External Relations at the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay, one of the largest chapters in a national network of over 700 Red Cross units. During her four-year tenure, she has overseen double-digit growth of the Chapter’s fundraising efforts in support of disaster relief in eastern Massachusetts and to support critical chapter programs and services. In addition she directs all chapter communications and local fundraising efforts to assist the National American Red Cross finance disaster relief operations for major national and international disasters.

Prior to joining the Red Cross, Navy-Daniels was the Director of Development and Community Relations at Boston Medical Center, where she was instrumental in the successful merger of two premiere academic medical centers and designed and produced financially successful fundraising campaigns and community health programs. Navy-Daniels was also a Producer, Reporter and Community Relations Director at WCVB-TV, Channel 5 (ABC Network).

 

Lauretta Siggers, Chief Community Service and Human Resources Officer

Lauretta Siggers, Chief Community Service and Human Resources Officer at the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay, is responsible for Human Resources, Volunteer Resources and Youth Programs, and the Food and Nutrition Program.  Lauretta joined the Chapter in March, 2008 after over 10 years experience in general business management, human resources and organizational effectiveness, within the profit and non-profit sectors.

Prior to joining Mass Bay, she served as the National Human Resources Manager for Building Educated Leaders for Life (BELL) a national non-profit with headquarters in Boston and offices in New York and Baltimore, Maryland.  In this capacity she oversaw all aspects of the Human Resources service including compensation and benefits management; compliance and reporting; recruitment and hiring; training program development and employee communications and support for over 1000 employees. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and has a Management Certification in Human Resources from Bentley College.
